GMC is bringing the Hummer brand name back with a whole different take on it as an all-electric vehicle. Gone are the days of being wasteful and oversized for Hummer. Now it’s even environmentally friendly. Perhaps most surprising is the anticipated combined output of 1000 horsepower. Buckle up as we take a look at the 1000-horsepower GMC Hummer EV.
Style Options
So far, the Hummer EV SUV is set to be released in 2022, with a truck version to come two years later in 2024. Both options are rumored to have four-wheel steering with the capabilities of doing a U-turn in just 37.1 feet of space. These new Hummers will also be able to drive diagonally using the CrabWalk function. It’s been stated that you will get to enjoy the off-road experience, even more, thanks to the 18 camera views available, which are also there to help you locate hazards, especially if you go off-road.
Supersized EV
GMC kept the production of an all-electric Hummer under wraps as long as possible. But now that the word is out, what can be expected? At 216.8 (truck) and 196.8 (SUV) inches long and 86.7 inches wide, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV is a supersized electric vehicle. Running boards line the sides of this vehicle to help drivers and passengers get up into the extremely tall cabin. The air suspension can raise it an amazing six inches higher to ford water or clear obstacles. You get 35-inch wheels on this beast to let you drive over almost anything that gets in your way.
Hummer EV Styling
The Hummer EV maintains the bulky, square styling that the SUV is known for, with a few updated lines and edges to give it a modern appeal. You get a front light bar that shines the vehicle’s name for all to see in a bright white glow. Two large plates shield everything on the underside of the vehicle to protect the battery and electrical parts from damage when you’re tackling tough terrain. You won’t find a massive engine under the hood of this Hummer, just storage space plentiful enough to pack away any gear you need on your off-road adventures.
Interior Details
You can’t help but have plenty of room for passengers and cargo in a vehicle this size. This electric SUV does an excellent job of offering comfortable and roomy seats. So far, the prototypes that have been viewed are a gray-white or green-black color scheme for a two-tone look. It is expected to come with a 13.4-inch multimedia touchscreen and a 12.3″ driver information display to keep the tech in check. The transparent roof panels that make up the “Infinity Roof’ are removable to provide you with an open-air experience.
