2022 Hummer EV
GMC is bringing the Hummer back, but it is nothing like the Hummer we've seen before. This all-new all-electric vehicle uses next-generation technology and innovation to provide drivers with a pickup truck that will outperform the competition. The initial Edition 1 truck will arrive first and will have three motors, a large touch screen infotainment system, and a new driving mode called CrabWalk. Here's a look at the 2022 GMC Hummer EV.
Trim Levels
The Hummer EV will modernized the everyday pickup truck with a small bed, a spacious cabin, and MultiPro tailgate. The Edition 1 will launch with a wide six-segment grille, large fenders, and squared-off wheel wells that provide room for the massive tires. It will have a black bumper and a dark lower front end, and it will come with 22-inch wheels with 35-inch tires. If you add the Extreme Off-Road Package, it has 18-inch wheels and upgraded 35-inch off-road tires. The new Hummer will also come with the Infinity Roof, which has transparent, removable panels for an open air experience.
Later in the year, GMC will also offer the Hummer in EV2, EV2X, and the EV3X models.
Engine
Power for the Edition 1 truck will come from three electric motors. These will combine to generate 1,000 horsepower and deliver 11,500 pound-feet of torque. A 24-module battery pack will sit under the rear floor and will allow the Hummer to get up to a 350-mile range. Drivers will also have the option to change the number of battery modules if they don't need the extra range.
Performance
When the EV2 arrives, it will offer some extra performance features to make it more capable on rough terrain. An adaptive air suspension will allow the driver to control the ride height, and if the driver uses Extract Mode, it raises the height by six inches when needed. The new CrabWalk driving mode allows you to angle all the wheels in the same direction and sidestep obstacles.
Interior
There will be seating for up to five in the Hummer EV. A large 12.3-inch screen sits in front of the driver, and the infotainment screen is a 13.4-inch touch screen with graphics designed by Epic Games, a video game design company. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity will come standard along with a Wi-Fi hot spot.
Safety Features
The new Hummer will come with a full suite of safety systems and offer the option for Super Cruise. This semi-autonomous driving system allows drivers to take their hands off the wheel when traveling on compatible highways, and the Hummer EV will automatically change lanes and move with traffic.
GMC's UltraVision is also an optional feature. It uses up to 18 different cameras with views all around the Hummer, including the undercarriage, which can help with parking and when driving over rough terrain. It has a washer function and lens protectors so you can always see clearly. This camera system can even provide a digital overhead view of the Hummer.
